NATURAL TRICK to Wake up your eyes!
As sometimes happens, as these years move me into my 6th decade, I awakened this morning to puffy "bags" under my eyes. Hate that! Usually I might apply a cold washcloth for a minute or so, sometimes cold cucumber slices and it helps. But this morning I remembered something I'd read in an article recently, advertising various skin care products, a particular eye cream was being touted as highly effective in that it contained caffeine which helps shrink membranes, reduces puffiness and generally perks up the skin.
Well hells bells, I had some cold caffeine sitting in my very own frig (I often save leftover coffee for iced coffee drinks) so grabbed a couple tea bags, I used green tea also known for it's super antioxidants benefits, but any type of tea bag would work, or cotton balls or a small cloth would also serve, and I dunked them in the very cold coffee, held to the area below my eyes a minute or two, and amazingly, no more puffiness!
In googling more about why caffeine is effective I read that as "caffeine contains antioxidants, it is used in a number of anti-aging products. Caffeine's ability to constrict small blood vessels and reduce inflammation is an asset in a number of creams designed to minimize dark circles and sagging skin under the eye."
Sadly the effects are not permanent, sigh, but its nice to know there are natural and inexpensive alternatives to many of the costly creams out there (such as Murad Essential C Eye Cream $67!!; Replenex Eye Cream $60!! and so on and so forth). Follow with your favorite skin cream ( I like Signature Club A 5 Essentials Cream - $25 and it lasts me 3 months), and you're good to go.
