The first snows of winter, doesn't get much better than this!

The lake as yet unfrozen, the snow a soft powder, fluffy lazy clouds amidst azure blue skies.

Another season has come to pass and still, as always, my dock welcomes with outstretched arms.

Arriving at our cabin on a snowy afternoon...a breath of fresh air after leaving California's smog. Snow was too deep to attempt to take our rental car down the driveway, but each step down the hill, past heavily snow-laden trees, was its own reward.

Winter ~ There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you.... In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself. ~Ruth Stout

Classic "california"

"Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language." ~Henry James

Unfortunately not all California beaches are as inviting as they look... found one or two of these on the lagoons surrounding the public park next to the resort... just as I was ready to dip my toes in!

It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the environment. ~Ansel Adams

Mission Beach surf....

Camped out on a bench across from the seawall at Mission Beach, reading my book (Excellent Faidra!) watching the skateboarders, rollerbladers and joggers, thinking "hmmm... I really should get more active.... maybe tomorrow...."

And "tomorrow" finds me settled into a comfy lounger, taking in the vistas and finishing off my book. Theres always tomorrow to get to that exercise plan.

Spent mostof last week in San Diego, Rod had some OSHA classes to attend, while I "worked"hard at fitting in all the lounging, reading, beachcombing, hot tubbing and swimming I could . Tuff job, but someone has to do it! Here are some of your "canuck snowbirds Shannon!
