For the most part it seems news or warnings of Bird Flu has been absent from our major news stations for some time, leading, I would think, one to relax and think, "gee, maybe its just gone away". Oh we of the wishful thinkers. Yet the headlines dominating stations the past months are filled with either the latest Bush Administration or Republican corruption/indictment/prosecution scandal or an update on Britney's most recent stint in rehab &/or the custody battle for Anna Nicoles baby. I know, much more fun stuff than diseased birds which could well lead to our generations version of "the black plague". But guess again... I came across this on an International news site yesterday - "DHAKA: Bangladesh has called for international help to upgrade bird flu testing, an official said yesterday, as the country battles a large outbreak of the disease in poultry...About 55,000 chickens have been culled ...11 farms...they suspected bird flu had been raging in the country for several weeks or months before authorities could confirm it."

Say What??? Does anyone even know IF we are any closer to a vaccine? Where ARE those tax dollars being spent? Oh yeah, silly me, 150 billion MORE will now go towards the war effort, to pile on top of the $190 billion (in Iraq) and the $66 billion (in Afghanistan) already spent (they guestimate if this war goes another 5 years we'll have spent in excess of $1.4 Trillion). Anyways, came across this helpful little pamphlet...click to enlarge. Wouldn't hurt to stock up on canned goods and flu meds...Good luck everyone.
